The Genesee County Planning Department provides planning services to the County and its municipalities. The Department also shares planning information with partner agencies and the public.

County Planning Board Support

The Planning Department also provides staff support to the Genesee County Planning Board. The Planning Board reviews certain local planning actions, including construction and development projects, under Section 239 L, M, and N of New York State General Municipal Law.

Agricultural and Farmland Protection

The Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board advises on agricultural districts, reviews plans, and supports farmland preservation. It fosters transparency, public engagement, and protection for Genesee County's agricultural interests.

Genesee County Farmland Protection Workshop

Genesee County farmers and farmland owners are invited to learn about the New York State Farmland Protection Implementation Grant (FPIG) program and the local pre-application process at an upcoming workshop hosted by the Genesee County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, in partnership with Genesee Valley Conservancy, Western New York Land Conservancy, and Genesee Land Trust.
