Office of Emergency Management

The Genesee County Office of Emergency Management coordinates emergency services and supports local response agencies across the county.

The office coordinates 17 volunteer fire departments, Emergency Medical Services and one career department serving approximately 501 square miles and a population of about 61,000 people.

During natural disasters and manmade emergencies, the Office of Emergency Management serves as a liaison between local governments and state and federal agencies.

Emergency Planning and Response

The department regularly updates and revises emergency response plans designed to support local jurisdictions during emergencies.

The office also provides specialized response teams when local resources have been exhausted or when specialized equipment or expertise is needed.

Fire and EMS Training

The Office of Emergency Management provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training programs required by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the New York State Department of Health for local emergency responders.
