GLOW Region Solid Waste

The GLOW Committee was created in 1987 as a cooperative effort between the Counties of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming whose purpose was to develop strategies for the management of solid waste in the region. Orleans County ended its affiliation with the GLOW at the end of 2003.

Mission:

GLOW is an Inter-County agency that provides leadership in solid waste issues for residents, businesses, and municipalities. GLOW's leadership includes education, resources, and direct services.

Western/Central New York Materials Exchange

The Western/Central New York Materials Exchange is a unique opportunity for businesses to exchange unwanted/unusable products that would otherwise be discarded and/or locate free/inexpensive materials that can be used in daily business operations.

Household Hazardous Waste

Any waste produced in the home which is flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive. It includes aerosol paint products, pesticides and herbicides, hobby chemicals, automotive fluids, and cleaning products.

Structure and Funding

GLOW is governed by an Intermunicipal Agreement that is renewed every two years. The Committee consists of three regular members and one alternate appointed by the Genesee County Legislature, Livingston, and Wyoming County Board of Supervisors.
