The Genesee County Job Development Bureau is a local resource for the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program.

Ticket to Work is a free and voluntary program that helps eligible Social Security Disability Insurance and SSI recipients explore work opportunities, prepare for employment, and receive support as they move toward greater independence.

For many people, returning to work can feel overwhelming, especially when there are questions about disability benefits, healthcare coverage, job skills, or finding the right opportunity. The Job Development Bureau can help individuals better understand their options and take the next step at a pace that works for them.

Through the Ticket to Work Program, eligible participants may receive support with:

  • Career counseling and planning
  • Job search assistance
  • Resume and interview preparation
  • Training and skill-building opportunities
  • Job placement assistance
  • Ongoing employment support

The program is designed to help participants prepare for, find, and maintain employment while working toward long-term success.

Who May Be Eligible

The program may be available to adults ages 18 to 64 who receive SSI or SSDI and are interested in exploring work or improving their financial situation.
