The Genesee County Highway Department advises motorists that a portion of South Street Road in the Town of Pavilion will be closed beginning the week of August 17, 2026, for a culvert replacement project.
South Street Road will be closed between York Road and Boyd Road, with the closure specifically located between 11271 and 11290 South Street Road.
The road will be completely closed at the work site. No through traffic, including emergency vehicles, will be able to pass.
Construction is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather and conditions permitting. Motorists should use an alternate route and allow additional travel time.
The project will replace an aging corrugated steel pipe that has exceeded its expected service life and has begun undermining the roadway.
The existing pipe will be replaced with a new smooth-wall plastic pipe designed to provide a longer service life under typical conditions and accommodate a greater volume of water flow.
Genesee County appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while this necessary infrastructure work is completed.
