SNAP and HEAP Benefit Updates
Published on November 10, 2025
Genesee County is continuing to monitor updates from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).
SNAP Update
The Genesee County Department of Social Services (DSS) has confirmed that full SNAP benefits have been issued for all November recurring cases. Some benefits were made available beginning November 9, and all should be accessible by November 13. OTDA has also advised that benefits for new cases are still being processed.
OTDA has affirmed that benefits already released are valid and may be used without restriction. Residents who have received benefits on their cards are encouraged to utilize them as needed.
HEAP Update
There are no major updates for HEAP at this time. If funding becomes available by Saturday, November 15, HEAP is expected to open on November 24.
