Regular HEAP Benefit Opens December 1

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) has announced that the 2025–2026 Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Regular Benefit will open for applications on Monday, December 1, 2025.

The Regular HEAP benefit helps eligible households with home heating costs and may assist residents experiencing heating emergencies such as low or no fuel, a utility shutoff notice, or a threat of service termination.

How Genesee County Residents Can Apply (Beginning December 1)

Online: Apply through NYS myBenefits at www.mybenefits.ny.gov .

Paper Application: Download the HEAP Application (LDSS-3421) from the NYS OTDA HEAP page at otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/ .

Mail, Fax, or In-Person Submission: Genesee County residents may submit completed applications to the Genesee County Department of Social Services.

The Regular HEAP benefit is scheduled to operate through April 7, 2026, or until program funding is exhausted.
