Genesee County officials, in coordination with local and state agencies, are preparing comprehensive safety and security measures for the 2026 Wings Over Batavia Air Show at the Genesee County Airport.

Practice flights are scheduled for Friday, September 4. The air show will take place Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6. Gates will open at 2:00 p.m., with performances beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until approximately 9:00 p.m. each day.

Public Safety Measures

Emergency service providers will be stationed on-site to help protect attendees and respond to medical or other emergencies.

Enhanced safety measures will be in place. Guests will pass through a brief security screening with handheld wands when entering the event. All bags and carry-in items are subject to search.

Before arriving, attendees should review the complete list of permitted and prohibited items (opens in a new window).

Practice Flights, Special Effects and Aerial Maneuvers

Area residents should expect increased aircraft activity during practice flights on Friday and throughout the weekend.

The air show will include aircraft performing flying, diving and other aerial maneuvers. Planned explosions, pyrotechnics and fireworks will also be used during the performances. These activities are part of the event and should not cause alarm.

Residents and attendees should call 911 only in an actual emergency.

Traffic Control

In preparation for and during the event, the following road closures will be in place:

  • State Street Road will be closed from West Saile Drive north to Batavia-Elba Townline Road.
  • West Saile Drive will be closed from the Milton CAT building to the storage barns east of the airport.

Motorists should follow all posted signs and directions from traffic personnel, use caution and remain alert to changing conditions. Pedestrians should use designated paths and follow posted signage.
