PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE OF 30-DAY PERIOD FOR INCLUSION OF PREDOMINANTLY VIABLE AGRICULTURAL LAND TO ANY EXISTING AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, That Chapter 523 of the Laws of 2003 did amend NYS Agricultural and Markets Law (AML) Section 303-b which now requires the County Legislature to designate an annual thirty-day time period within which a land owner may submit a request for inclusion of land which is predominantly viable agricultural land within a certified agricultural district, prior to the County established review period.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, That the Genesee County Legislature established by Resolution No. 399 of 2003 the annual thirty-day period to consider inclusion of new parcels to existing Agricultural Districts to run from January 26th to February 24th.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, That as a result of the Agricultural Districts Annual Enrollment Period land owners may submit a request to include entire parcels of predominantly viable agricultural land (lands that are composed of at least 51% prime farmland soils and/or are contiguous to the main farm operation) within any of Genesee County’s certified New York State Agricultural District. Applications are available online during the annual enrollment period at the Genesee County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board website: GeneseeNY.gov/Ag-District
