Notice of Adoption - Increasing Salaries of Genesee County Coroner

NOTICE OF LOCAL LAW ADOPTION IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following Local Law 1 of 2026 was adopted by the Genesee County Legislature on November 24, 2025 and was subject to permissive referendum. There was no event of a valid petition requesting such referendum received prior to January 12, 2026, which was then filed with the Secretary of State in accordance with the applicable provision of the Law. Filed as Local Law 1 of the Year 2026, Amending Local Law No. 2 of the Year 2023, In Relation to Providing Additional Duties and Increasing the Salary of the Genesee County Coroner by the Genesee County Legislature. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of the County of Genesee as Section 1. Legislative Intent. The compensation for a Genesee County Coroner shall be based upon an annual salary of $2,500.00, beginning January 1, 2026. Additional compensation: $125.00 fee per standard case, $250.00 fee per Medical Examiner case, $100.00 per court case, $500 per case for homicide child death case. Fees that remain the same: $50.00 per phone case, $150 per case for observed holiday cases, $200 per round trip transport of a deceased individual(s) to the Medical Examiner’s office. Section 2. This local law shall become effective, subject to permissive referendum, forty-five (45) days after the date of its final adoption and on the date, it is duly filed in the Office of the Secretary of the State of the State of New York and in accordance with the provision of Section 24 of the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York.
