STOP DWI Centered

Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Batavia Police Department will be participating in a coordinated effort with the STOP-DWI program in an effort to reduce impaired driving and save lives.

The statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign will start Thursday, July 3, 2025 continuing thru Sunday, July 6, 2025.  The campaign combines increased law enforcement presence with public education to deter individuals from driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other impairing substances. The initiative is part of a larger national effort supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Have a plan for a safe ride home.

  • Designate a driver.
  • Impairment starts with the first drink.  Call a taxi, a ride service or a sober friend.
  • If someone has been drinking, take their keys and help them arrange a safe ride home.

STOP-DWI efforts across New York State have made great strides in reducing the number of alcohol and drug related fatalities, however lives continue to be impacted every day by drunk or impaired driving.  Make a positive impact - choose to drive sober.
