Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Batavia Police Department will be participating in a coordinated effort with the Genesee County STOP-DWI program to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving.

In a combined effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving, prevent injuries, and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State will engage in special efforts before, during, and after the big game. The campaign runs Sunday, February 8th – Monday, February 9th.

Plan a safe ride home before the party starts.

  • One drink is all it takes. Call a taxi, a ride service, or a sober friend.
  • If someone has been consuming drugs or alcohol, do not let that person get behind the wheel. Take their keys and help them arrange a sober ride home.
  • Wait it out – spend the night – stay where you are.

Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving. Being a responsible driver is simple: if you are drinking, do not drive.
