Genesee County is moving forward with a transformative broadband infrastructure project to bring high-speed internet to over 700 previously unserved address points across the county.

Project Overview

After an extensive search for external funding and a thorough planning process led by County Manager Matt Landers, the County Legislature has begun taking formal steps to close the digital divide in Genesee County. This project will ensure that every address in the county will have access to high-speed internet.

A new GIS map has been created to provide residents with real-time information on broadband availability:

  • See which addresses currently have access

  • View which locations are still awaiting connection

  • Track the build-out progress across the county

Why It Matters

This investment addresses a critical need for:

  • Students who struggle from a lack of internet access

  • Remote workers and home-based businesses in rural areas

  • Countywide economic development and digital equity
