Meeting the job performance requirements found in Chapter 5 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, the Fire Officer II course builds on the skills learned in Fire Officer I.

Additionally, students begin to examine the functions of a "Managing Fire Officer". Topics include government administration, human resources management, media relations, budgeting and purchasing, origin and cause investigations, conducting accident investigations, analyzing agency data, post-incident analysis and the development of an incident action plan for a multi-unit response.
