Genesee Youth Lead is a leadership development program for youth in Genesee County. This eight-month program focuses on developing leadership skills through specific sessions and hands-on experiences, with each session highlighting different community and leadership aspects.
We are seeking Genesee County high school freshmen through senior students. The ideal candidate will have the time to commit to the program, which includes monthly classes and additional assignments and service opportunities between sessions. We aim to represent a cross-section of our community to ensure all participants benefit maximally from the program.
The selection process, conducted by the Youth Bureau staff, involves an application and interview. The class size is limited. Graduates are encouraged to use their gained skills and knowledge to support their communities.
The program begins in October 2026 and ends in May 2027. Sessions are held monthly from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at GVEP (BOCES) and the Genesee County Department of Social Services on the following dates: October 21, November 18, December 16, January 20, February 24, March 16, April 8, and May 19.
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are due September 11, 2026.
