Records and Report Fees

Accident Reports Online – $14.00

Accident reports are uploaded within approximately five business days from the date of the accident and may be obtained online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit CrashDocs.org to request an accident report using the report number, accident date, and last name. Downloads are available in PDF or TIFF format.

Criminal Background Check – $10.00

This background check is only for records on file at the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. It will not include records from any other agencies (for example, New York State Police or the City of Batavia Police Department).

To release a copy of your background records, you must first complete an Authorization for Release of Information(PDF, 350KB) form. Please allow approximately seven to ten business days for your request to be completed.

For a more extensive background check that includes all law enforcement agencies in New York State through the Division of Criminal Justice Services, visit criminaljustice.ny.gov or call 1-800-262-3257. Read the website carefully for complete instructions.

Federal “Identity History Summary Check”: Visit fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks or call the FBI CJIS Division in Clarksburg, West Virginia at 1-304-625-5590.

Other Report Fees

• Other Reports (up to 2 pages): $5.00 (each additional page is $0.25)
• Photo CD: $30.00

FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) Request – $0.25 per page

If you wish to request records under the Freedom of Information Law, an Application for Public Access to Records(PDF, 2MB) must be completed. The Records Access Officer will review your request. You will be contacted within approximately five business days with the total number of pages and the cost of your request.
