Records and Report Fees

Accident Reports Online—$14

Accident reports are generally uploaded within five business days of the accident date and may be obtained online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To request a report, visit the CrashDocs accident report website. You will need the following information:

• Report number
• Accident date
• Last name

Reports may be downloaded in PDF or TIFF format.

Criminal Background Check—$10

This background check only includes records maintained by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. It does not include records from other agencies, such as the New York State Police or City of Batavia Police Department.

To receive a copy of your background records, complete the Authorization for Release of Information Form (PDF)(PDF, 350KB).

Please allow approximately seven to 10 business days for the request to be completed.

New York State Background Checks

For a more extensive background check that includes law enforcement agencies throughout New York State, visit the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services website or call 1-800-262-3257. Review the website for complete instructions.

Federal Identity History Summary Checks

For a federal Identity History Summary Check, visit the Federal Bureau of Investigation Identity History Summary Checks webpage or call the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division at 1-304-625-5590.

Other Report Fees

• Reports of up to two pages: $5
• Each additional page: $0.25
• Photo CD: $30

Freedom of Information Law Requests—$0.25 Per Page

To request records under the New York State Freedom of Information Law, complete the Application for Public Access to Records (fillable PDF)(PDF, 2MB).

The Records Access Officer will review the request. You will be contacted within approximately five business days with the total number of pages and the cost of the request.
