New York's STOP-DWI Program

New York’s STOP-DWI program is the nation's first and, to date, only self-sustaining impaired driving program. Other states have implemented components of self-sufficiency, but none to the degree of New York State.

Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC)

The New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) coordinates traffic safety activities across the state, providing timely information about traffic safety and the state's highway safety grant program.

The Committee consists of thirteen agencies with missions related to transportation and safety. It is chaired by the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles and serves as the state's official liaison with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

New York State - Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) - Ignition Interlock 

An essential component of Leandra's Law, Chapter 496 of the Laws of 2009, requires monitoring of all defendants subject to ignition interlock devices (IID) as a result of sentencing involving a DWI misdemeanor or felony offense.  Genesee County Probation and Genesee Justice monitor IID cases in Genesee County.
