In-Home Services and Support

Genesee County Office for the Aging offers a range of services designed to help older adults remain safely and independently in their homes. Eligibility requirements vary by program.

Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP)

The Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP) provides case management and non-medical in-home services, including housekeeping and personal care, for older adults in Genesee County.

The program is designed to help delay or prevent the need for nursing home or other institutional care and to support family members who are caring for an older adult.

Individuals age 60 or older may be eligible if they:

  • have functional limitations;
  • have unmet care needs;
  • are unable to receive Medicaid, Medicare or other insurance reimbursement for the same or similar services; and
  • are able to live safely at home.

There may be a fee based on household income. Eligibility and any applicable fee are determined by an EISEP Case Manager.

For more information or to determine eligibility, contact the Genesee County Office for the Aging at (585) 343-1611.

Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)

Home Delivered Meals are available to Genesee County residents age 60 or older who are unable to prepare their own meals because of illness, surgery, physical disability or advancing age, and who do not have family, friends or neighbors available to provide meal preparation support.

Services are provided based on need without regard to income.

Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There are no deliveries on holidays. Service may be discontinued at any time or temporarily interrupted for reasons such as vacations or hospital stays.

Everyone who receives a meal has the opportunity to contribute. The suggested contribution is $4.00 per meal. No one is denied service because they are unable to contribute.

To make a referral or request more information, call the Home Delivered Meals Intake Worker at (585) 343-1611.

  • conversation and companionship;
  • reading;
  • help with correspondence;
  • games and hobbies;
  • light housework;
  • light meal preparation;
