The Genesee County Career Center helps local businesses and employers recruit, train and retain employees. Services are available to support hiring, workforce development and employee training needs.
New York State Department of Labor Business Services
On-the-Job Training
On-the-Job Training (OJT) may help reduce the cost of training new employees by reimbursing up to 50% of eligible training costs. OJT candidates are screened to help employers identify qualified and motivated applicants.
Tax Credit Information
The Career Center can provide information about employer tax incentives that may be available for hiring certain qualified individuals. The original program information states that eligible hires may provide a tax credit of up to $2,400.
Classroom Training Programs
Employers may combine classroom training with OJT or recruit graduates from vocational and educational programs, including:
- Office Technology
- Computer Repair
- Medical Billing Specialist
- Machinist
- Health Care Professionals
- Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Recruitment and Screening
Employers can submit job openings to the Career Center for recruitment assistance. Referred candidates may be screened for factors such as:
- Ability
- Aptitude
- Work ethic
- Personal qualifications
Customized Training
If you need employees but do not have time to provide all required training, the Career Center may be able to help develop a customized training program based on your workforce needs.
