The Genesee County Career Assessment Center helps individuals, employers and professionals better understand skills, interests, aptitudes, personality traits and work-related abilities to support informed career and hiring decisions.

Assessments Offered

Interest Evaluation

Uses a scale of likes and dislikes to identify career areas that may provide greater job satisfaction.

Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator

Identifies personality traits that may help participants better understand how they approach work, communication and career decisions.

Employers may also use assessment information to better understand characteristics such as teamwork and independent work styles.

Aptitude Testing

Various assessments are available to help identify natural abilities and areas of potential career strength.

Employers may use aptitude testing as one source of information when evaluating a candidate's potential for specific types of work.

Physical Capabilities Evaluation

Non-medical, work-simulated testing evaluates how physical capabilities may relate to different types of work and occupational tasks.

Assessments may also evaluate coordination and other physical abilities related to particular career areas.

Work-Simulated Test Units

Work-simulated assessments evaluate an individual's ability to learn and perform occupational tasks used in the workplace.

Career Assessment Services

• Flexible options: Complete assessment batteries or individual assessments may be available depending on your needs.
• Results: Participants receive an assessment report that explains results and may include behavioral observations. A post-assessment conference with the evaluator may also be available.
• Career recommendations: Assessment results may include a list of occupations related to the individual's results.
• Comprehensive assessment: Available tools may evaluate skills, aptitudes, interests, personality and academic potential.
