Volunteer with the GO Health MRC

GO Health MRC is a volunteer organization and medical reserve corps dedicated to local community well-being and resilience. Comprised of volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including those with healthcare experience and those without, the local MRC unit is the primary way to assist the local health department and participate in any related public health emergency response. Coordinated by the Genesee and Orleans County Health Departments, the focus of the MRC unit is to:

  • Host open-to-the-public safety trainings and education for more resilient communities
  • Engage in service to expand local public health services and community needs
  • Participate in public health emergency response activities as needed

Volunteers may be county employees, current or retired healthcare professionals, concerned residents, or others interested in sharing their skills and supportive of health and resilience in Genesee and/or Orleans.  We support volunteers interested in regular engagement, as well as those interested only in standby status for larger public health emergencies. These many layers of participation help make GO Health MRC effective and successful in its mission.

To become a member, you must both complete the local unit application as well as register with a New York State ServNY account New York State ServNY Account. Within ServNY, please choose Genesee and/or Orleans County Health Departments as part of your affiliation.

You will also need to attend one of our in-person refresher/orientation sessions, including required trainings and review of all policies. You will be subjected to a background check including validation of any current healthcare credentials. Finally, to stay an active member, it is required to reattend an in-person refresher/orientation session at least once every 3 years.

Thank you for your commitment to public health safety, well-being, and community resilience!
