The District holds seminars periodically for the general public. Examples of seminars in the past include fish & pond management, soil health, tree & shrub management, etc.

Genesee County Fair Exhibit

Look for Genesee County Soil & Water Conservation District’s exhibit at the Genesee County Fair held during the month of July.  Watersheds, stormwater management, the importance of soils, and AEM (Agricultural Environmental Management) have been themes for past displays.

ACORNS Volunteer Group for Genesee County Parks

ACORNS is a volunteer group formed to support Genesee County Parks (Genesee County Park & Forest and DeWitt Recreation Area) by assisting with environmental programs and park maintenance, offering recreational opportunities and promoting the parks. ACORNS’ membership dollars support the parks’ programs and help with improvements in the parks and at the Genesee County Park and Forest Interpretive Nature Center.  For more information, contact Julia Garver at (585) 343-8514 or Shannon Morley at (585) 344-1122.
