Road Closure Notice: Colby Road Culvert Replacement Project

The Genesee Public Works Department announces a temporary closure of Colby Road in the Town of Darien, beginning Monday, July 14, 2025. This closure is necessary to complete the replacement of a culvert over Crooked Creek.

The project involves removing the existing structure and installing a new precast concrete box culvert with cast-in-place concrete wingwalls. This infrastructure upgrade will improve long-term drainage and road stability in the area.

A posted detour will redirect traffic using Broadway (US Route 20), Alleghany Road (NY Route 77), and Sumner Road. The affected segment of Colby Road will remain closed to all through traffic for the duration of the project.

Construction is expected to be completed by October 2025. The Genesee DPW appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this important road improvement project.
